Residents of the minority tribe of Kuria have thanked President Uhuru Kenyatta, Prime Minister Raila Odinga and Interior Security Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang'i for appointing their own son , Prof. Joseph  Chacha as the Vice Chancellor of Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology.

"President Uhuru Kenyatta has always stood with the Kuria community all through his political life and the appointment of Prof. Chacha is a true testimony. We will continue to support him as we have always done since the year 2002." Said Peter Kaunda, a youth leader from Kuria.

The highly learned professor who did his Ph.D at (Chemistry) in University of Ottawa, Canada, 1988, Masters in (Chemistry) - University of Nairobi, 1988 and Bachelors of (Education) - University of Kenyatta, 1978 is a humble intellectual with uncommon tactical brilliance.

His appointment has excited the locals base being the first Vice Chancellor from Kuria community since independence.

The views of the Kuria community has been echoed by their brothers from Kisii region who have hailed Professor's work of research and innovation at Maasai Mara University.

"Professor's appointment is a case of nobility meeting with ability. We know him as an educationist who will steer Masinde Muliro University to higher levels. We thank the Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang'i and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga for playing a major role in Prof. Chacha's appointment." IS MATIANG'I SOLIDIFYING HIS REGIONAL SUPPORT FOR 2022?

Lately, Interior Security Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang'i has been making inroads in Nyanza and Western region in a bid to bring development closer to the people and intensify the Building Bridges Initiative report that was launched in his own Kisii backyard by President Uhuru Kenyatta and Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

On 22nd October 2020, Dr. Matiang'i accompanied President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga to Kisumu County to engage the Nyanza residents. Matiang'i gave a historic speech in Kisumu that was given a standing ovation and watched by Kenyans globally; something that thrilled Kenyans to keep guessing what next for Uhuru Kenyatta's Mr. Fix It.

Political analysts say that was a charm offensive of introducing Dr. Fred Matiang'i to the people of Nyanza so as to pose as a likely candidate to represent the region as RAO prepares to exit the scene in few years to come. However technocrats argue that Matiang'i will be rated as presidential material due to his national clout of development and reform agenda he has made in every institution and ministry he has served in.

On his tour of Kisii, President Uhuru Kenyatta gave a clear message to local wananchi that he is pleased with the work that his Interior Security Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang'i is doing. The President went further to castigate the Tangatanga allied politicians who were throwing jibes at Matiang'i. He urged the people of Gusii to protect their son against abuses as he is the country's shining star. Analysts say the President was preparing their son for higher duties though political pundits argue that the presence of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga in Gusii spoke volumes as they launched the BBI report in Kisii; the same venue where the first step started; a sign that Kisii is the biblical holy land whose leadership was blessed for the future.

Yesterday, Dr. Fred Matiang'i jointly met Governors of Western & Nyanza region with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga led by Kakamega Governor Wickliffe Oparanya, who also doubles as the Council of Governors Chairman and his Lake Region Economic Block Vice Chairman, Kisii Governor James Ongwae. In the presence of CS Eugene Wamalwa, Western and Nyanza Governors deliberated on the BBI document that will move Kenya to a super peaceful and developing country. They agreed that it's time to amend the supreme law through this opportunity of a rare window to rally the country together to face some of the daunting challenges.

Dr. Fred Matiang'i's presence at Ciala Resort yesterday and his crucial role in BBI further confirmed the people's guess on his much anticipated solidification of his region's support as he prepares to further get into the nation's bigger boots. With sources close to the Presidency saying that he will be in charge of spearheading the BBI process and make it a success and has successfuly completed his first assignment of engaging Western region Governors in cooperation with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

Back at home, already word is going round that the region is going back to the 2002 moment when we endorsed Simeon Nyachae for the Presidential seat. Gusii leaders led by two Governors (James Ongwae & John Nyagarama) have said repeatedly that this time round, we must get to the presidential ballot, thanks to the harmonious working relationship of all Gusii leaders i.e. Janet Ong'era,  Jerusha Momanyi, Prof. Sam Ongeri, Okong'o Omogeni and area MPs led by Richard Onyonka & Ben Momanyi.

As Franklin D. Roosevelt said, nothing happens by accident in politics but if it happens, its properly planned and so is Dr. Fred Matiang'i's strategic position in both Nyanza and national politics as an eye opener to his preparedness for a bigger role in 2022 and beyond. Keep watching this space!

CS Matiang'i unites his backyard

CS Matiang'i Unites Gusii Leaders as he Pledges for Development

Interior Security Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang'i worshipped at Nyagesenda SDA Church in Sensi ward yesterday, Kitutu Chache North Constituency, Kisii County accompanied by Health Principal Secretary Susan Mochache and other senior government officials.

Locals were happy to see both Kieleweke and Tangatanga politicians present at the church, something that has never happened before. Kisii Governor James Ongwae and his Deputy Governor Joash Maangi were present and they pledged to work together as Omogusii unity intensifies to increase the community's bargaining power ahead of the 2022 polls as they front Dr. Fred Matiang'i. It should be reckoned that CS Dr. Fred Matiang'i has not declared his presidential bid regardless of the political pressure from his supporters to do so.

Speeches thrilled wananchi who were busy chanting 'Matiang'i for President' songs as he entered and also as he left the church.

CS Matiang'i, who wore a locally branded short sleeved shirt, to promote the Buy Kenya Build Kenya initiative advocated for unity. "Lets unite and work together as Gusii leaders. Gusii people are known globally as hardworking citizens. We must now pull together to ensure the Big Four agenda of President Uhuru Kenyatta is a reality. I urge all of us to pray for each other as we strive to unite for development as advised by our President," said Dr. Matiang'i.

PS Susan Mochache urged all leaders from Gusii to work harmoniously so as to push the Omogusii agenda strongly together. She said Gusii must now work together under our senior most leader Dr. Fred Matiang'i so as to promote development and increase our bargaining power.

Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi said that the community must have one leader at a time, and a time has come when Dr. Fred Matiang'i must take the mantle and unite Abagusii irrespective of their former political alignments. He added that he hadn't been seen in Interior CS's functions but now a time has come when Omogusii must unite for purpose. His sentiments indicated he may decamp from Deputy President William Ruto's camp due to his past flip flopping political nature.

Governor James Ongwae also thanked Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang'i for ensuring that the name of Omogusii is dignified in Kenya through his hard working stance. Ongwae urged all leaders to unite for the sake of Omogusii's future bargaining in the national cake.

Other guests who attended were Laikipia University Council Chairman Ken Nyaundi and Member of County Assembly, Kisii Central ward, Kisii County Government Kefa Kebabe Mogaka alias 'Mrefu.'

What you need to know:

  • The protest came a few hours after the DP left the county where he presided over two fundraisers.
  • The DP and his allies launched scathing attacks against top government officials whom he said tried to stop his political rallies a week ago.
  • The youths condemned the DP for disrespecting “their son”, whom they said has earned the community’s respect.

A section of youths from Nyamira have protested against what they termed as insults directed to Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i by Deputy President William Ruto's allies.
This comes a few hours after the DP left the county where he presided over two fundraisers.
The DP and his allies Thursday launched scathing attacks against top government officials whom he said tried to stop his political rallies a week ago.
Youths supporting the Interior CS and President Uhuru Kenyatta demonstrated demanding respect for Dr Matiang'i.
Led by Ms Josephine Nyang'au, the youths said they appreciate the DP for his empowerment programmes in Nyamira but cautioned that insults directed at the CS were uncalled for.
They addressed journalists at Tombe shopping centre in Kitutu Masaba where they said DP Ruto should avoid a section of Gusii leaders who are abusing Dr Matiang’i.
"We demand respect to our son Matiang'i. We don't want a leader who comes in the name of helping youths but ends up abusing other leaders,” they said.
Geoffrey Mose said the DP should know that abuses by his allies cannot translate to votes.
"We know the DP is going to contest for the presidency of this country but abuses will not make him superior. Some of the allies of the DP are only tainting his picture," he said.
They also condemned the DP for disrespecting “their son”, whom they said has earned the community’s respect.
"We do not want wheelbarrows, we want agendas, and the agendas should not be about Matiang'i. The presidency cannot be achieved by abuses and profiling other leaders negatively,” they added.

YOUTH LEADER ELICITS EMOTIONS AFTER HE URGES PRESIDENT KENYATTA TO EXTEND HIS TENURE TO 2025

YOUTH LEADER ELICITS EMOTIONS AFTER HE URGES PRESIDENT KENYATTA TO EXTEND HIS TENURE TO 2025

Dismayed by the KEMSA scandal and its threatened consequences & sanctions if Kenya doesn't give a proper audit, a youth leader from Nyanza has castigated leaders blowing the small issue out of proportion and said the leaders are making inflammatory statements so as to attract the international community to give Kenya sanctions. The youth leader has urged leaders to moderate their statements and be patriotic in their nation.

Youth Leader Douglas Ogari having a tete a tete with President Uhuru Kenyatta at Nyanturago in Nyaribari Chache Kisii County.

"Your Excellency, you met the Global Fund Executive Director Peter Sands on 3rd May 2019 at State House Nairobi and appreciated the support that the Global Fund is offering to Kenya and you reiterated your administration's keenness on working with global fund to ensure successful implementation of Universal Health Coverage programme and our success here in Kenya has encouraged replication in other countries in Africa." Said Douglas Ogari, youth leader from Kisii.

"But again your Excellency, the global fund & USAID are not naive not to detect media propaganda in this whole charade and know that this propaganda is being influenced by selfish quarters with no patriotism for their nation. Let me shock you your Excellency; they have even sponsored demonstrations to blow the matter out of proportion. We are happy that already you have ordered a daily update on the investigations of Covid-19 fund and a proper audit report will be presented to the Global fund. It shows your commitment in fighting AIDS, Malaria, TB & Covid-19 in Kenya." Said the youth leader.

Mr. Ogari urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to extend his term to 2025 to give him time to complete his projects that have been affected by Covid-19 pandemic. "your Excellency, kindly extend your term to 2025 so as to give you time to deal with cartels and wind up development projects that have so far been affected by this Covid-19 pandemic." Said Ogari.

He urged the President not to be distracted by leaders with divisive statements emanating from leaders allied to his deputy president whose intention is to destroy the gains that he has made since 2013. He thanked him for reforming Kenya through his hard working cabinet Secretaries led by CS Fred Matiang'i and CS Mutahi Kagwe "Your Excellency, ignore the negative pessimists who can’t help build our nation. They are trying to kill every effort you have put since 2013. For instance, when you developed a plan to reform the sugar industry by writing off 62 billion debt owned by sugar millers and farmers and lease five state owned Sugar factories at this time when millers are facing hard times, the pessimists have started a propaganda that you are planning to sell the millers to private investors! Your Excellency, after CS Mutahi Kagwe and CS Fred Matiang'i became firm in dealing with cartels, they are now calling for their resignation because they are strictly implementing your policies for the benefit of Kenyans. Lately, they are on Health PS Susan Mochache's neck because she is sanitizing the health ministry by following strict procurement processes and not being manipulated by cartels." Said the youth leader.

Youth Leader Douglas Ogari addressing over 10,000 youths at Nyanturago in Nyaribari Chache Kisii County.

He asked the President to forge ahead with uniting Kenya through the handshake between him and former Prime minister Raila Odinga. "That your Deputy President William Ruto is mobilizing politicians to move around the country and say, "the only leader who can help us is Ruto, not Uhuru" is wrong and an attempt to impeach the President of Kenya. Sir, they no longer respect you nor your handshake brother Raila Odinga; in your collective efforts of uniting the country; some go to an extent of terming him a conman so as to divide Kenya. Dont take them serious; sovereignity remains with the people as stipulated in our constitution in Chapter 1 article 1 sub article 1 and we are fully standing with you on uniting the country and the war against corruption that itches them most. Division is their agenda; we have noted." Said Ogari through an open letter to the head of state.
